Hiking Amnicon Falls Wisconsin State Park

Amnicon falls
Amnicon Falls Wisconsin State Park:

Amnicon Falls State Park is different than quite a few other hikes I have taken.

There are only three trails, and all a bit short and flat not much actual “hiking” involved.

Amnicon Falls State Park, however, allows visitors to self-guide around the Amnicon River banks and get into the various falls along the way.

Amnicon Falls

There is no official swimming area, but swimming and wading are permitted in the river and falls.  Always be safe and keep an eye on children as the rocks can be slippery and dangerous.

There are many places on the short walking trail around the falls that make for easy access to the river.  There are even a few spots with stairs carved into the rock for easier access to the water.

You can easily spend an afternoon hiking around the Amnicon River and swimming in the Upper Falls.

With caution and safety in mind, the entire family can enjoy the water and have a great time outdoors.

There are plenty of places along the river to find solitude and listen to the water flow past.

There is not much for marked hiking trails at Amnicon Falls but with a little exploration and curiosity, you can discover something new every time you come back.

Now & Then Falls:

Now & Then waterfall is on the other side of the parking lot from the Upper & Lower Falls.

It is such a pretty waterfall, but it is tucked away a bit, and you might not see if you are not looking for it.

Amnicon Falls Now & Then

I witness the Douglas Fault created by earthquakes half a billion years ago.  I stand in awe of the rock formations made from volcanos erupting and waters flooding.  Then I will realize there is something bigger than myself and it will be around long after I am gone.

I find peace at this moment, and I am comforted by the environment.
