Hiking Dells Of The Eau Claire River:
I decided I wanted to go somewhere new for our hike on Sunday. I have been compiling a list of hiking trails throughout Wisconsin that we have not yet hiked, a lot of them I didn’t even know existed. Hiking Dells Of The Eau Claire River has been at the top of my list for a while.
I wanted my daughters to go since this was going to be a bit of road trip and we hadn’t been here before. Plus I enjoy having the whole family out together. We packed up the car early Sunday morning and headed off for a day of hiking at the Dells of the Eau Claire River.
It was going to be a cold day with a high of 23º, so everyone was going to have to bundle up. It’s not fun if we don’t dress appropriately for the weather or the hike. After we dressed adequately for the cold weather, we were on our way.
When taking long car rides, I like to listen to an audio-book on audible to help the time go by faster.
Getting on the Trail:
As soon as we arrived everyone was ready to get out and stretch their legs. We got the car parked and headed for the river. Good news for us we were able to get on a trail right next to the water, we hiked the trail that followed along the river.
Hiking Dells of The Eau Claire River has a lot of variety to offer. Beautiful views of the river, beautiful bridges, and a lot of unusual rock formations.
What an exciting find, with a little off-trail exploration you can locate a couple of great nooks and crannies.
The High Bridge:
The high bridge was fantastic. I am not sure where my obsession with bridges came from, but I like photographing them as you can tell if you have read my post, McGilvray “7 bridges” hike or my Baxter’s Hollow hike.
Hiking at the Dells Of The Eau Claire River was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.
The view from the high bridge down the river was magnificent.
After we crossed the high bridge and we were on the other side of the river we spotted this shelter that we hadn’t seen, it wasn’t visible when on the trail. Make sure to explore along the way.
I was disappointed in the amount of graffiti found around the Dells Of The Eau Claire River.
I highly recommend hiking Dells Of The Eau Claire River Wisconsin State Natural Area. There are many trails there including a segment of the Ice Age Trail.
When spending time outdoors always be respectful of nature, use common sense and please follow any posted rules.
Always give more than you take and leave no trace.
Thank you for reading! Have a great day!!
