Roche-a-Cri Wisconsin State Park & Natural Area:

Hiking Roche-a-Cri in Friendship WI was a great way to spend a Labor Day morning.

This beautiful State Park is set back from the main road, providing a quiet and relaxing atmosphere inside the park.

Roche-A-Cri Petroglyphs Stairs

First, we stopped to see the sandstone bluff that displays some petroglyphs.

The rock art is beautiful, and such an excellent piece of history.

There was a Travel Wisconsin station to set your phone or camera on and to take a picture.  You can share your photos on Instagram @TravelWisconsin using #ScenicWisconsin.

Up the Stairs:

Next, we head to the mound.  For a hike up the 303 stairs to the top observation platform.

There are a lot of stairs to the top. However, there are several viewing platforms along the way.  Many of the platforms have benches to stop at and rest at if needed.

Observation Deck Stairs

Once we made it up the considerable amount of the stairs.

Our reward for climbing the stairs is a walkway leading out to the final observation deck.

The Observation Deck:

The top of the mound has plenty of benches to sit down relax. I take in the beauty around me.

The from the platform goes on for miles.  Even on an overcast, dreary day, it is still a fantastic panoramic view of the area.
