The Omaha Bike Trail:
A wonderfully secluded trail ride (most days). A mostly paved path that runs from Camp Douglas WI to Elroy WI totaling approximately 13 miles one way.
Even though the trail is maintained natures debris makes this a fun ride for mountain and cyclocross bikes, but a little trickier for road bikes.
The Omaha Bike Trail used to be a railroad bed.
Now the trail is converted for nature enthusiasts to enjoy for a small trail fee of $2/daily or $10/annual pass.
Even on a hot summer day, a large portion of this trail has shade, and the sandstone bluffs help to keep your ride cool.
Camp Douglas side of the 875′ old railroad tunnel, you can stop to have lunch at one of the picnic tables or refill your water bottles from the hand pump well.
There is even a restroom to use before getting back to your ride.
With all of the amenities provided approximately halfway through the ride, even the younger bikers can join in the fun.
